Northbound: A short story
I originally wrote this story in November of 2007 while taking a creative writing class at Lansing Community College. For most of the stories I wrote while in the writing program at LCC, I had the concept and direction of the story in mind when beginning to write and would spend about two weeks writing, editing and revising to create a first draft. For Northbound, I sat down at my computer on the Saturday after Thanksgiving without any preconceived ideas of what to write about. I wrote most of that day and the next and I finished the story by the end of the weekend.
This story originally appeared in Lansing Community College's annual publication of student writing The Washington Square Review in 2008.
It also appeared in Sabella Press' 2009 collection called Unhoused Voices.
